Dr. Garrett Wong is an accomplished precision biologist with deep expertise in metabolic engineering, industrial enzyme development, and data-driven bioprocess innovation. As Chief Technology Officer of wenSymes, he leads the company’s technical strategy, R&D execution, and development of scalable biomanufacturing platforms.

Garrett holds a doctorate in Biochemistry from Imperial College London and the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he specialized in strain engineering and the optimization of biological systems for industrial performance. His scientific work has been published in leading journals, including Nature Communications, and he is the co-inventor of patents in sustainable biomanufacturing and industrial enzyme technologies.

Prior to joining wenSymes, Garrett served as a Research Scientist at Wilmar International, where he contributed to large-scale enzyme and fermentation process development. He later advanced to Senior Research Fellow at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, focusing on synthetic biology innovation, genome engineering, and the integration of automation and data analytics into the Design–Build–Test–Learn cycle.

With more than 10 years of experience across academia and industry, Garrett brings a strong track record of delivering high-impact scientific programs, managing cross-functional R&D teams, and translating complex biological innovations into commercially viable solutions.
